U.S. Imports Large Amounts of Oil Research Currently Indicates

New online researcher HeatingOilShopper.com has released a study outlining alarming trends in US oil consumption and production.

 
Research provider Heating Oil Shopper  launched a collection of heating oil and energy related resources today September 28, 2011 including this graphic and accompanying guide, which revealed that while the US consumes over twice the oil of the next biggest consuming country, they create nearly half as much crude oil as they consume.

The basic findings of the report covered a number of different topics including which countries had the largest percentage of world oil reserves, the growth of world oil exports, the factors most likely to affect oil prices, the growth in global demand in oil prices, and data about the consumption and production habits of the US.

Specific data points exposed in the study mentioned above include:
 

•     World oil exports grew from 31 million barrels/day in 1980 to 44 million in 2009

 

•    The US consumes 18.7 million barrels/day, more than double the next highest consuming country, China

 

•    The US produces just over 5.5 miilion barrels of crude oil per day, but imports over 9.16 million barrels/day
